TPWD must really be hurting for data!

Just make sure the guide and all their angler’s licenses are valid. BEFORE catching that SAL!

Good for the guide and anglers. It will make the guides work harder for you to catch a lifetime fish.

I would ask them kindly to put a 30 to 90 day hold on the location where the fish was caught.
It appears to me one of the major reasons people do not participate is they don't want their lake to become a zoo.

That should help.

Not worth the risk anymore. They may find out you had a trailer light out at the time and arrest you. They can just raise their own 13 pounders.

yeah , they have a lifetime's worth of fish DNA

there is not a better run of collection than what has came out of Ivie in the last several years.

program needs to be shuttered as far as collection goes.

keeps getting better cheers

In addition to providing basic catch information, anglers have the option to send a DNA scale sample from their lunker bass to TPWD researchers for genetic analysis. Anglers who contribute a sample to the program will receive a Lew’s baitcast reel valued at up to $200 while supplies last, with a limit of one reel per angler. Anglers who send in a genetic sample will also get a three-month subscription to Bass University. Instructions for submitting DNA samples are located on the Toyota ShareLunker website.

Awesome incentive to send in the DNA. I’ve entered a couple but only sent the DNA in on one of em.

Entering fish into the program and sending in the DNA is one of the only ways you can directly affect the number of stockings in your lake. Or just leave it up to the shocking surveys and hope they land on fish.

Always supported the program, and there is lots of good data that could be gained from these fish. Any scientific minded person can see that. However, I no longer have faith in TPWD to do much of anything productive. The powers that be need to reevaluate the entirety of the Texas Parks and Wildlife department. From the guy that cleans the tanks at the fishery center, to the leader, and everyone in between including game wardens. I have lost complete faith in the organization. They have proven time and again that they cannot put emphasis on the things that really matter.

Ducks and deer. That’s what TPWD cares about. The rest just doesn’t matter.

I think the biggest problem with the department is that it’s run by rich governor appointed philanthropists that have never worked in the department. You would think at least a wildlife degree would be required.
