OP Scuba Chris Extreme Angler S Joined: Mar 2018 Posts: 1,260 Oahu, Hawaii	Little Did Okuma Know They Gave Birth to a Legend of Surf Rods! John Bretza the Director of Product Development for Okuma gave birth to the original Rockaway line of Surf Rods that helped Okuma to be recognized as a top producer of fishing rods. Though classified as a surf rod the versatility of these rods also enabled shoreline anglers to spin cast from shore for fresh to saltwater anglers! Years ago John sent me 4 Rockaways for myself & company reps to be used after a local product show in Hawaii. We had a great 2-day show & i took everyone spin-casting which in Hawaii is termed Whipping. The waves were up that winter day to 22ft up North so we headed town side. At least i was able to get a Jack to strike which John video'd for his research team. So this is a video introduction of the original Rockaway that started a family of Rockaway's from Okuma. Attached Files Traveled the World diving & fishing. Became a ranked billiard player in Asia. Won a few senior bowling tournaments. I travel to the US, Australia & Europe working with museums & doing educational lectures.
