We bird hunted and raised bird dogs and would fish in the spring and summer when we got a chance.

It’s great you still have both parents that mature of age. Tell him HBD from a fellow HS ball coach and to keep staying young‼️

He did 23 years in the army WW2 and Korean, then odd jobs before getting into IT.
He was the best and took care of us! I am in IT going on 47 years and about to retire! Happy days 😊!

my dad started working at age 10 , selling newspapers during WWII --dirt poor parents . Kicked out of the house in high school so he survived by cleaning a whorehouse , washing clothes for a bed to sleep and food and finished high school . Went into the Airforce --where he ended up being a flight engineer on B-29's . Moved to Cali and started a family --went to engineering school eventually being an Engineer at Lockheed for 38 years .
Loved the Airforce but they wouldn't let him be a Pilot due to wearing glasses . I grew up learning about every single WWII plane ever made , including the decorated Pilots .
loyal , hard working , tough . He's 90 and still works very hard . He wasn't a patient teacher --so I had to learn quick . He made me pay my own way when I turned 16 --- been working full time ever since

8 years ARMY, infantry.
Then he was a mechanic on the Hueys
My sister was born in Germany, I was born here

My dad was actually a tear it apart fix it man my whole life. He is still wrenching at 70yo for the people. He works out of his shop for 50 flat rate. Yes you read that right. He helps out a lot of people in the small town I grew up in. German,European specialists and Domestic. I grew up holding the flashlight then learned enough to do my own work.
He was great at schematic reading any electrical diagram given. I did not follow the wrenching part but became a licensed electrician for 22 years. I could go on about him but I won't.

Dad grew up in Odessa, was classmate and friend of Hayden Fry, went into the Navy, got out after his stint and became a crop duster pilot at a very young age, flying Stearmans. flew all over North, South, and Central America in the 50s working for different governments that needed American pilots to spray government crops. Whatever chemical there was, he had sprayed it.. many that were later banned in the US. I remember him spraying Lake Benjamin in the early 60s, with rotenone, to kill all the fish... folks lined the shore as the fish came to the surface.

He was a stunt pilot for a movie being made by Max Baer Jr, (Jethro Bodine), that was never released or never finished.. never knew which.

Avid hunter, fisherman. and golfer... I got to fish from as far south as Nicaragua, for sawfish with harpoon and rifle to as far north as lac la ronge in far northern Saskatchawan for monster pike, lake trout, and walleye, before I was 10 years old.. His best friend was the local game warden in Knox City, whose area included the 6666 ranch.. which I hunted as a kid for deer, geese and quail.

Lost his license to fly in US in early 70s, and had to go back to flying in central america... died at age 51 in Costa Rica, from being around all those chemicals.

Pipe fitter, sprinklers. My grandpa had a great name in the industry as far as I can tell. He rode the name.
No, I went oil & gas by chance. ~20 years later I'm still here.
Meh. I won't talk ill of him but I strive to be a better father than he was & that's not a difficult bar to reach.

My dad enlisted in the Army Air Corps after Pearl Harbor and was a SSgt in the MPs. After the war he had various jobs one of which was delivering dry cleaning for a cleaners in Dallas where he worked with George McFarland (Spanky of the Our Gang/Little Rascals). He finally landed a regular job as an electrician's assistant and learned that trade well.

He finally became a maintenance man for a large apartment complex where he honed his skills as a carpenter and plumber. He ended his career as a superintendent for one of, if not the, largest apartment companies (Lincoln) in the DFW area and supervised crews at a number of complexes. There was nothing that he could not fix or build.

His biggest job was being the best, most patient dad in the world. He died 23 years ago, and I still miss him every day!

My dad had a concrete construction company ( he had other smaller businesses) but that’s what he was known for . I did follow in his footsteps for a few years and then went onto aviation .
