Looks like crews are still holding and improving on the palisades and eaton fires. No new growth in terms of acreage, despite continued red flag warnings for high winds, low RH and poor overnight RH recovery.

Lets continue to keep everyone involved in our thoughts and prayers (even the gov, mayor, and fire chief, as it seems as though they may need it the most).

nfhbass could you provide insight on the regulations for clearing property of brush and trees if the landowner wishes to do so?

Your county usually has someone to advise on that, and some counties have grant funding to help pay for it. If you're asking specifically about LA county, I found their link below.

You live around Lake Buchanan, correct?

I would be surprised if you have any regulation that you must adhere to, I could be wrong.

There are many resources available to assist you in ensuring you are taking the proper precautions to reduce the risk of a wildfire affecting your home or property.

There is a thread I started titled "Reducing the Risk of a Wildfire Burning Your House Down" where I shared some suggestions, along with things others have done to safeguard their property from willdfire.

As Gusick mentioned, there are sometimes funds available through the city, county, state or feds to help. I would contact the Texas State Forest Service office nearest you first, they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Yeah I live in in Buchanan and we don't have any restrictions. I was more curious about California. Seems like a lot of those folks have trees and fuel growing right up on them. I just can't understand that mentality especially with trees that ignite so easily.

Sorry, I misunderstood.

Yeah, its perplexing to say the least. Ive read and heard that the the FD is supposed to come inspect your property out there, and that the inspections can be really picky. Then you look at the news, and it looks as though most are breaking all the rules.

I don't understand and I don't think we ever will.

I think its just a case of many very wealthy people having their house the way they want it. They probably just pay any amount of fines dulled out. Which is great, I just think they should quit their whining when their ignorance gets them burned, literally.

it's worse --- I went to a wedding back in 2021 --- in China Peak Resort ( Mountains above Fresno Calif --- approaching the base of the Sierra's ) . A location where a massive fire took place the year before. I can't even describe the devastation --- maybe millions of tree's . Most of them partially torched , laying down etc..... The Govt has made removal of the dead tree's and standing partially affected tree's impossible . Those area's are so ripe for another fire it's crazy . People leaving the area for good ---- there is only one road up there and during the fire --- impassable .
Just a massive tinder box

Sounds like the firefighters got through the red flag warning with no new fires and no new acreage in the Eaton and palisades fire thumb

There is rumor that the palisades fire may have escaped a fire that was controlled on January 1.

https://abc7.com/post/what-caused-palisades-fire-residents-point-new-years-day-blaze/15800524/

I think it will boil down to someone being careless, whether it was on purpose or not...

Pretty sure it was Trumps fault. I think there is even video evidence of him carrying gas cans and matches into a wooded area.

Ofcourse the left is already running with BS climate change [censored]. Which for the most is all BS. However if it climate change is the cause than why doesn't California due anything to ,itigate the threat. IE Clean and manage forrest, Demand wider powerline easements, Demand cities have minium firebreaks/setbacks surrouunding cities, increase the builing of reservoirs. Everything they do invites devestation and the only defense the rely on is the firefighters who as nfhbass has pointed out are bad assses
