Interesting - the last HVAC guys I had to my home would not accept tips and handed them back to me. They said they would get in trouble for accepting the cash

Bought the wife jewelry from a small independent store at Galleria for Christmas. The tab was low 3 figures and was helped by a young lady who I know didn’t own the store. Had a tip page on the I Pad screen that started at 15% tip.
Um 👎 Nope

I get tips. Bottles of bourbon, tequila, rum, cases of beer.
I really don’t drink that much
When they tip cash, I tell them no….twice….the third time I will take it and roll with it.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.

I work in HVAC, we do very little residential work but I have been offered a tip before and I have refused. I don’t understand the tip mentality this is my job it’s what I’m paid to do whether it’s hot or cold. We do a lot of restaurants and the managers there will offer food and I will accept sometimes others I don’t because I’m in a rush to get to the next call but do appreciate the offer. There are times the jobs I’m doing we are billing $1,000 or more and I can’t understand someone asking or a tip or think the deserve one when they leave a large invoice.

It was the owner and that's what surprised me. No worries. He's a good guy and all, but replacing a fan motor on my condensor took all of about 20 minutes. Part is probably $350 -$400. Charged me $150 labor for $550 total. About an hour of drive time plus his labor time. $100/hour seems ok. I tip well to a lot of folks but this is a first I've ever seen in the construction industry. The pay link literally made you have to put "$0 tip" to opt out of the tip to get to the final bill online to pay him. There was no option to skip the tip to get to the bill. That's what seemed really wierd.
