Medium size yard. Probably something other than St. Augustine. Will do it myself. Just curious if there is an average cost that is somewhat a ballpark figure.

I have a decent sized backyard and had new sod put in March 2024. It was about $2K installed with St. Augustine from a local landscaper. As I recall a pallet of grass was about $500 per pallet.

Do you have a lot of shade or do you get a lot of sun? Derek would be a good source.

It is a mix of spotty St. Augustine, native grass and clover looking weeds. Figured I'd try to get it back in a better condition. The wmentire yard is sprinklers. No trees in front yard. Just a couple in back yard

I put a pallet worth of zoysia in some dead spots of my yard over the summer. I think the sod price was around $350/ pallet.
To re-sod the entire yard you are going to have some additional costs beyond just the grass. To do it right you'll want to kill off whatever is growing there now, till it up, and add some topsoil/compost.

Just a couple in back yard I just looked into hydro seeding over existing lawn and it’s not recommended, so that rules it out. Bermuda is very resilient and pretty much just requires a good water schedule and fertilizer to look decent.

Well first things first. This is a big job. So don’t underestimate that.
If you’ve got a lot of shade, not much grass will grow, doesn’t matter what kind.
You’ll need to measure your yard. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but you don’t want to over buy.
A good cultivar of Bermuda is hard to beat. I would expect a little over $1/sq foot, maybe up to $1.50. Order direct from a sod farm, they’ll probably charge a $100-200 delivery fee. Pallets of sod usually cover 4-450/sq ft.
St aug is weird to me. If I didn’t do Bermuda I would go zoysia, a little more money.
You’ll want to do a good amount of prep work before the sod, kill all that is there now, remove as much as possible, add a layer of nice top soil, level things out, fix any bad spots you might have.
There are other options out there that are good with Bermuda that are cheaper. You could sprig or plug, it’s much cheaper, but obviously takes some time and isn’t an instant fix.
You could also seed with a common Bermuda if you aren’t too particular, it’s a coarser texture but is fine enough.

It depends on the size of the yard and the grass you want to put in. A lot of prep work if you want to do it yourself.

I know absolutely nothing about this, but I will not let that stop me from commenting. 220, 221, tree fiddly. Somewhere in that range

A couple of folks in our hood re-sodded with zoysia a few years ago. At first it looked great but the past couple of summers they didn’t look good at all. Not sure if it’s improper maintenance on their part or not. I tend to think that maybe our summers are too hot for that particular grass, as both will look great in the spring. I personally wouldn’t do zoysia but that’s just me. Bermuda is almost impossible to kill.
