No worries with fishermen in boats coming through and casting in there. In all the years we have been there only found 1 broken off bait on the dock. These guys somehow get access to the marina and walk into the slip. (and other people's slips who have cams. They help themselves to minnows and sodas/beer in the fridge. (locked now) It is normally late at night and we have notifications muted. How would you go about stopping these people fishing in our slip? We rent the slip, we did all the work to attract fish. IMO it is rude and stealing minnows may not be a huge deal but it is theft. Sucks to bring the kids out to the slip to fish and have 4 minnows left after buying 2 dozen. Yesterday we found the minnow bucket open in the water and zero minnows.

Note: these are not neighbors in the marina.

Report your concerns to the marina management. If access to the docks is through a monitored door, management might be able to identify them as well.

I don’t have a slip for my boat, but if I did, I wouldn’t leave ANYTHING unlocked and accessible to thieves. Prevent it from happening is the key. Trying to catch them is a waste of time. After the fact is even worse.

You need to make sure the property is legally posted for trespassing. People who regularly trespass often know the law and if the property is not legally posted for trespassing they know there will be little consequence for trespassing. There are lots of rules to get signs correct. Once the property has the correct signage, then contact your local game warden. There are severe penalties in Texas for trespassing and criminal trespass.

That being said, the question is whether the anglers have paid for a slip. Many anglers believe that if they have access to the marina they can fish anywhere on the dock. This becomes an issue with the owner. Over the decades, I have seen lots of fights over this situation. In one case I bought 3 dozen minnows to fish with my grandson and put them out in a minnow bucket the night before we were going to fish. When we arrived in the morning 3 older anglers were on the dock bragging about all the crappie they caught with our minnows. One way to solve this is use an old metal minnow bucket with the floating material removed. Put the minnow bucket down deep and hide the string.

Get a second minnow bucket to tie off with your regular minnow bucket. Catch a young lively water snake to put in the new minnow bucket.

I never found a way to stop them. Had a slip on Lake Livingston for years and "they" stole me blind. I even saw a guide who also had a slip there fish out of my slip...that was the end of it for me.

Wish I had thought of the water snake idea.

One of the reasons we gave up our slip on Lake Whitney ,
They even stole one of my trolling batterys.
Fished on my pontoon boat in the slip ,left thrash , ect.
Perople today jusy have no moral and drives me crazy.
Probably best to just not go to jail if I caught them , because they need a good old butt whopping .

HAHAHA! Great idea! Maybe a rubber snake. Got some cameras up. A slip neighbor has a cellular hotspot and let's us connect to it. Now I will catch them and I will post/shame them here if that is in the rules.

Does the entry way to your slip area not have a locked door so that only the people with slips have entry to it?

Indeed it does, but these folks are getting in somehow. A week ago, our neighbor caught a dude fishing in the our slip. He sent him packing. Luckily he took a pic of him and noted the time on his way out. We called the manager and they looked up the tag. It was an old tag from a slip that just never got deactivated.

Well it is now. Management assured us that they would go through and deactivate non-current tags. Maybe that would fix it.

Getting harder and harder to find a considerate thief these days..................

I don't think you can stop that anymore than you can stop people from breaking into your car parked in your drive way.

just trying to catch a fish
