Went today. Stayed up north and the water was MUDDY. I never got a bite. Went south and caught a couple of those giant crappie the lake is known for. I am not sure if I crapped the bed or the muddy water made them not bite but I struggled. Will go back at some point though.

Made it to Tawakoni on Saturday with my buddy Isaac and the weather was really decent for January especially seeing what is headed this way. I mainly stayed fishing with my Santone M Series Jig with Lake Fork Lures Pro Craw trailer and even though I only managed two fish they were decent fish and made it a bonus over just the fun time we had on the water. Had to really pay attention and fish it slowly but managed a 5 1/2 lber on the back side of a dock where it met the walkway to the dock. Was working the jig really slowly through something that I was having to pull it through on the bottom when I thought I felt a little tick so I stopped my rod and held it there and sure enough it started moving off really slowly and I hammered the fish. Not much fight in the fish so I got her to the boat and gently boat flipped her into the boat. Really nice healthy looking fish. Then a lttle later we were fishing a rocky bank in the back of a cove kind of protecting us from a stiff wind that was blowing and managed a good 3 1/2 lber. What was funny is when catching the bigger fish it tore my skirt off of my jig but I just kept throwing the Pro Craw on the jig head without the skirt and this fish hit it. I was having fun fishing the bait this way as an alternative to the one I had on a standard Texas rig and liked the hookup on the fish when it bite. Fun day.

I've ran the north end with someone that knows the lake well and they ran it full throttle all the way to near the back of the lake. Once we got to the 259 bridge we idled. When you get north of the 155 bridge a ways I'd idle. Lots of stumps just under the water on the upper end. and this guy knew where channels and such were. We did a lot of twisting and turning to stay out of trouble and I never saw very many stumps from the water surface.

After around 15 mins of idling I felt okay running the lanes. They seemed make pretty good. I ran a good ways up past 155 and never had any issues. Ran the marker lanes and never touched a stump. Maybe I got lucky but I idled and graphed and everything looked fine.
