El Campo on bomber road. Best frog legs and onion rings anywhere.

That’s a tall order.

Clear Springs (the original, not sure about the one in the DFW area) has the absolute best I’ve ever experienced. I couldn’t imagine having better ones.

Cannot think of the names from the 70's but:

Camp Bowie, there was an Italian restaurant that you had to go down stairs, they had doors on the booths that they would close the doors for you when you had a date.

Farmer's Daughter (?), steak place on University

Joe T Garcia's, when it was great and you sat at the long tables sitting next to whoever was there

Bars,

Quick Draw on Camp Bowie, best ham sandwiches, played the old silent movies after last call for an hour

Branch Office, great shuffle board place.

Billy Martins 3rd Edition on E. Lancaster. We ate there a lot back in the early 80's and they had the best hush puppies, bar none.

For those of you in the know and a little farther down south, the Rodeo City Cafe in Mansfield. They had an all you could eat fried shrimp like on Friday nights or something and my grandmother would drag all of us out there every week. It was right next door to the famous Kowbell Rodeo. Damn those were good times.

When I was a kid, I caught the calf at Kowbell and when I went up on stage to get my $20, the MC said they didn’t have any money. I blurted out “s*it!” right up there on stage. My memaw was not pleased.

You can still get those hush puppies, Basham's Distribution sells them - it's a grocery distribution warehouse they have walk in for the public.
