Headed to OH Ivie for the first time next week.
Which boat ramps do you recommend?
Lodging recommendations?
And of course, if you want to send me areas of the lake (or coordinates) I would take it, but I don't expect anyone to give up their honey hole. :-)

There’s only 2 ramps, Concho and Elm Creek. Concho is better if you want to fish the rivers. Elm is better for main lake. If you’ve never been before be careful and run the channels. Drift out of them and don’t be surprised if you take your prop on on one of the hardwoods in 40’ of water. Lake is still being stingy but hopefully next weeks cold front drops the water temps enough to get them active again. I was out this past Saturday and managed to scope a few.
Lastly, what type bow roller do you have. Asking for a friend. bolt

This ☝🏻. Lake is still definitely being stingy. Got some good food over at elm creek. If you’re out in the main lake area you really don’t have to worry about running anything over. Just when you go up into elm creek or if you start going into the river

I hope your first trip there is better than mine was about a year or so ago. We went about this time of year and didn't even get a bite in 2 days of fishing. Best of luck to you.

Yeah ivie is a tough lake most of the time (at least for me). Been twice in the last 3 weeks and caught a total of 3 bass

I don't have the typical over-exuberance of most people going to the lake. I have warned my fishing buddy that this will be tough fishing. However, I have never been, and at least want to fish it once in my life. Clearly it has had big fish in it, and if they were there last year they are still there. I understand the lake has come up quite a bit since last year, so the fishing spots are a little different from what people may have known before. I fish mostly Lake Travis, so I am familiar with how major lake level changes can affect things. I actually welcome this. I did not know there was a problem with theft in the trailer parking, or maybe that is just an insider joke that I am missing. It seems that everyone is fishing Elm Creek, so I will probably avoid that area, even though when I was looking at Google Earth it seemed like the best place to go for the weather next week. I have identified a couple of other places where I will probably start out.

I like to be that guy who everyone looks at and thinks either I am an idiot or else I know something nobody else does. :-) Looking at lodging options, I am thinking it may be a better idea to just make the 2 hour drive back and fourth each day from home. Slim pickings and outrageously priced for what they are. I guess when you are the only cabin in town you can charge whatever "cleaning fee" you want. I hate VRBO and AIRBNB.

So, if anyone has a recommendation for a place to stay for a couple nights and a couple hundred bucks where the boat is safe, please let me know. That is really the main piece of info I need right now.

Theft of s not an issue, it’s an inside joke. As for lodging, yeah not much to choose from unless you want to make the hour drive to San Angelo. As for fishing being hit or miss, I’ve taken 1st place with 3.59# and I’ve not cashed a check with over 20#.
