Got out on the water about 4:30 yesterday and went to the same 2 spots I caught them at Saturday (18-26FT deep close to the peanut and also on the river channel in 29-33'). Immediately started catching fish, most were Hybrids 17-20", some sandies too but not too many. Fish are starting to bite alot better but with all the boat traffic they scatter out and you have to move around to find them again. All the fish i graphed this weekend were biters though so that was encouraging. I expect the fishing to keep improving through the coming weeks with more stable conditions.
Just as a footnote, if you are pulling up to a spot (especially where other people are fishing) idle around or use your trolling motor. It's very courteous and with all the boat traffic on RH we need all the courtesy we can get. Not saying it was any TFFers but we all know how frustrating it is to be catching fish and to have someone pull up going fast and you watch the bite go away with their 3ft boat wake.
I'll be out there this afternoon around 5 in my white Skeeter.

Thanks for the report Tony. I don't know how long I could stand being on the water at 4:30 in the afternoon, though. It is very frustrating when someone drives in full speed to where you are fishing/catching. Some people don't think there is anything wrong with doing this, but it's funny, because these are the same people that never catch fish. Hmmm, wonder why:)

jojo69,
It has alot to do with color, size, and presentation. People seem to think that Hybrids and Sand Bass are careless predators that will hit anything. That may be true in schooling situations to a degree, but most other times it isn't the case. This time of year I tend to fish a 1 1/4 oz slab in a white/chartruese color with some red on it.
Now the harder part can be finding the fish. Everyone knows where the gravel pits are and the peanut so those are good places to start looking. There are other good spots in deeper water that you will need a GPS to mark. These spots are old ponds and road beds in the middle of the lake but once you find them most of the time they hold good numbers of fish. Hybrids and sandies relate to structure like most other predatory fish so find structure that will hold baitfish and that in turn will bring in bigger fish.
I'm not trying to give a long philisophical explaination to catching Hybrids but fact is if you want to catch fish most of the time, don't be afriad to try new places or new baits.
If all else fails, get the hell/pet and troll the usual spots. You are sure to catch fish doing this.
Good Luck.
Tony

TONY WERE THERE ANY HYBRIDS THAT WERE KEEPERS OR WERE THEY SMALLER FISH. I USUALLY DO NOT KEEP ANY FISH EITHER WAY, BUT JUST THOUGHT I WOULD ASK.
