Hi everyone!
I was fishing on Buchanan couple days ago on the 21st and did quite well with the whites/stripers. Easily 80+ fish caught. It was slightly windy, maybe 7-8mph. I then went again the next day on the 22nd, but this time the wind was blowing around 12mph with 20 mph gusts. It was whitecapping and made for a rough boat ride.
However, I had expected the fishing to still be good, since I hear that wind is good for fishing, as long as it isn't a north wind. However, when I tried the same regions, I either found no fish, or the fish were completely lockjawed. Caught maybe 3 fish the entire afternoon. Just wondering if anyone has any idea what is behind this phenomenon. Would be a good lesson to learn!
Thanks in advance! Merry Christmas!

If a front come thru, that could change the bite. Usually a change in wind direction or severity is sign that a front of some kind is coming thru.

My experiences have been that during winter when water temps are cooler wind is somewhat detrimental as the fish are certainly more active in calmer water where it would be somewhat warmer.

When the bait move, the fish move. That is what I would think.
