Should have told him to swim.

The only Open I ever fished was at the Red River. Draw a guy from Houston. Tells me to meet him at the restaurant parking lot next day early. I get there on time and he doesn’t show up for a half hour. Gets out of his truck and starts puking on the ground. Oh great this will be fun. Says he stayed up all night drinking. As if I couldn’t tell. Not sure what to do at this point so we launch the boat. He says he feels great and he’s on fish, He’s got like 5 different places that have fish on them. blah blah blah. As the day goes by it’s getting hot and he’s feeling worse and worse. I catch one little dink and he catches one little dink. Then he runs us up on a sand bar. Im 60 at the time and he says I have to get out and push us off as the rules say he cant leave the boat he’s like 35 years old. I get out and eventually get us off. We stay in the same place all day as he doesn’t feel good enough to run to any other spots. Miserable day, he fell asleep twice and I had to wake him up. Late in the day as we are getting ready to go in he says he’s feeling better and cant wait to go drinking again that night. Geez. Fortunately for me I drew Kevin Short (K-Pink) the next day and had just about the most fun I ever had in a fishing boat so that made up for it somewhat.
