I taught Aircraft Weight & Balance in the Air Force at FTD School. You are right. A calculator or a weight & balance slide rule is all they need.

M = W x A / 1000

CG = M / GW - .763 / .002723 for the 7oh. Tons of useless numbers that’ll always be burned into my brain

Like your friends telephone numbers when you were a kid.

FOS and DEKS are not just W&B systems. It is much more than that.

Didn't something similar happen to Southwest Airlines last Christmas?

December 25, 2022 was the first time SWA ever failed me.

Due to a blizzard; the baggage handlers were unable to get to Denver airport and many of their crews “called in sick” and allegedly, their scheduling software failed.

They were the last domestic airline to screw me over.
Congrats SWA.

Yep. I skimmed through the article posted and saw w&b. Regardless…automation

My niece is flying in from New York today...not sure if she's landed or not as she's not coming to her dad's house until tomorrow. She's my favorite niece, so I hope she's here and safe.

The calls were brutal, thankfull I only had to be on for about 90 minutes only to not need to be called on.

DEKS feeds FOS, and Sabre feeds deks. FOS is the brains that collates and distributes data to all the airports FIDS screens, gives the timings and delay data, internal has crew info on the flight, ship info including capabilities, hours of service, repair flags, etc.
