The cheese ball and summer sausage brings back such great memories of Hickory Farms in the mall. Every year, I get a few cheese bals and a summer sausage. Maybe my nostalgia gets the better of me. I will do it again next year but I sure wish they were better.

There are some family run meat markets around who still do a good summer sausage.

I'm trying my hand at a homemade cheese ball this week for the Christmas gathering.

I like cheese balls and sausage with the small brown colored crackers.

Hickory Farms Summer sausage was always good. My dad got it every year. I have not had it in a while. Need to get some.

The quality of a cheese ball is directly proportionate to the strength of the cracker.

If there is a good store brand summer sausage, post it up.
I have not had a good one in years. They are all over salted, and when you get past the saltiness. Its just bland. I always expect something good, and always feel underwhelmed. Some of them are really not worth eating at all.

Need to make that drive again, that place is legit. I was thinking of something at tomthumb or Kroger.
Kudos and Lewisville meat market are top notch as well.

Sorry, but I just never cared for those.

Hickory Farms box is my standard Xmas request. I haven't seen one laying around here so I think I'm out of luck this year.

Bellville Meat Market has the best summer sauage I have ever had. Pork and Venison is my fav, but beef, beef and jalapeño, beef and cheese, and Chipotle are all good.

J&W meats in Crockett makes the best summer sausage to me. I get a few sticks of the jalapeño and cheese ones each time I go thru there. They aren’t the friendliest people to deal with, but I can overlook it for the summer sausage.
