Bass Needed , willing to buy or help remove any ponds that are over stocked with in 40-50 miles of Sulphur Springs or Emory.

Had my pond sprayed last year by a company in Caddo Mills and all my fish died after they sprayed for duckweed.

As it fills again this fall I am looking for 1-3 lb fish (Bass ) to bring it back faster than fingerlings . So my grandkids can catch a few.

Call or text if interested.

Not having much luck finding anyone close and I know there has to be a few that are over stocked or just cow watering holes that have a few in it.

What I might mention without naming them is I have 2 bad issues with this company out of Caddo Mills.

Bought some fish from them two - three years back and they showed up in bags and 90 percent were Dead.

They did refund my $ so that helped. I blamed that on the driver as much as the company.

Marc we used Overton and were extremely satisified. I met a guy half way from Buffalo and drove to Mills County. we had almost zero dead ones.

Mark I may have what you described, I’m in Palmer over by Ennis-
Distance is right at your distance limit though-

PM me if you want to see if what I have will help you-

I don’t want anything in return if that factors into things-

What has happed to you does not define who you are-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

Marc let us know how the offer works out. I just think it's cool when people help others out.

Tilapia really get after duck weed...cheaper and healthier than spraying.

I tried grass carp and that did not work. Thought about Tilapia but was not sure they could take that much out.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Yes, duck weed isn't a favorite of grass carp but they will eat it but prefer grasses, elodea, and water lilies and cattails. Tilapia love duck weed and algae, so they make a great pond combo. Been using both for several decades now and never use chemicals.

Tilapia also grow great bass...see my new years day thread.

I picked up some blue catfish in the summer from Overton and hauled them nearly 4 hours and there wasn’t a single dead one. They do a great job over there. They also appear to really know what they’re doing when it comes to their product.

You might find Tyler Fish Farm of relevant interest. Their genetics are terrific..."We have always believed in pure Florida Largemouth bass in East Texas and have developed a strain of High Catch Rate (HCR™) pure Florida Bass that grow up to 2-3 pounds per year. We have also developed a strain of cold-tolerant pure threadfin shad over the past 30 years. Our pure Mozambique tilapia’s strain came from the San Antonio Zoo and Hawaii." I would add to that their copper nose bluegill came directly from selected Florida stock.

I have started several ponds different ways from stocking 1-3 pound fish to 1/2 pound, to fingerlings, to fry...and by far the best approach I have found is to start with June of the current year bass...not last years unsold bass but newly hatched current year in June bass.

I've had new bass grow to over 2 pounds in a year easily...but if you just throw in two pound bass it just does not work as well as growing them out and getting them acclimated.

By the way, just as an aside, I've found if you add blue catfish to an existing stocked pond, soon all you will have is blue catfish, progressing to one blue catfish...just my two cents.

Marc, I assume that you are going to stock fathead minnows and bluegills first.

You assume correctly , I have a good population of bluegill already. I may add Talpia this year for duck weed and a food source.

I understand how to bring my pond back and get it up and running but nature, droughts, otters and chemicals continue to kill my fish.

I always populate with a good food base first, and there is a good amount of left over bluegill from the fish kill which mostly killed all my big bass.
