After less than a year, the pull rope on my new Minn Kota Edge 55 trolling motor has broken. I can order a replacement for $10 but was looking at Cabela’s online and they sell a replacement cable that it says replaces the original lift and lock system. It says that instructions are included but I can’t find anything online that details those instructions. It’s obviously different than the original style and I really don’t want to perform major surgery. Have any of y’all installed it?

I had an edge on a boat years ago. It is a simple repair.
What kind of replacement did you buy?

The cable just slides through the same holes as your original rope. Then you install the barrel and tighten the set screws.
If you think about it, you might try to keep the factory MinnKota handle and use the new cable with it. The factory handle secured to the yoke on the mount so it doesn’t flop around. The new handle doesn’t.
