Does anyone know about when there are fly fishing shows/outings in Texas are, which month? I am finally free to go and do things..

There is one in Mesquite it seems in the spring, there was one Waco, don't remember when and there was was one in Bryan this month.

This one is in March on the Trinity River in Fort Worth and one of the best in the state. Unfortunately, I haven’t made it personally in the last few years, but I am still hearing good reports about it. In the past they have stocked the river with some really nice fish.

I keep thinking there should be a Texas Saltwater Flyfishing Show. As far as I can tell, there's only three Fly Clubs on the coast: Texas Flyfishers of Houston, LLM Flyfishers, and Corpus Christi Flyfishers(barely still existing). Maybe the Galveston Fly Shop, and the Orvis dealers and The Fly Trap in Rockport should put on a show. Costs a lot of money to do a show. I know I'd go, even if I had to drive to H-Town. Maybe there are more clubs? Texas Women Fly Fishers? Someday, maybe? IslandJim

Well, there's always the Friday night follies at Swan Point Landing. I always enjoyed that when I was in Rockport. It may not be a big statewide show, but I appreciate what Dave does, and I think a lot of other folks do too.

Fly fishing is way too small a fraction of fishing to be able to support/sustain a show of its own. The Fort Worth show is underwritten to keep it going. It's kind of hard to know what you mean by, "show," but the best show in the State the last few years has been TroutfestTX - https://grtu.org/troutfest-tx/troutfest-tx-2025/ . The number of vendors, lessons and participatory opportunities is better than any other event in Texas, IMO. That link is live, but apparently they haven't fleshed it out for the show yet.

PS - Mesquite event is, mercifully, gone.

Troutfest TX in New Braunfels on Feb 21 to 23 is the largest fly fishing specific event in Texas and has the most vendors and guides on hand of any event in Texas. It is also a free event.

Mesquite had nothing compared to the last couple of Troutfests. And if you want stockers, TPWD will have probably topped the Guad off with 20-thousand by then. So the Trinity thing kind of pales as well. Sometimes we just gotta drive ...

Does anyone have any info on a Waco fly fishing show? I am searching but not finding.

Last year's show was in April. and seems to have been coordinated thru the texascouncil.ffi. Maybe they can help. IslandJim

I've heard rumors that there have been some discussion about trying to do something in Waco again, but nothing official has been announced. Well, more or less doing again, last year was cancelled due to weather and didn't actually happen.

We will have to wait and see if it happens this year.
