You see the adds for this on TV....its also called Vikings Disease.
I started getting this probably 10 years ago, thought it was a bump caused by over use of my hand or something. Come to find out I have hand contracture.
Flash forward 4 years - my hand is doubling over and I had to finally have surgery....holy chit man - wicked zig zag incision from the top of my pinky all the way down my palm. The recovery has been a bit more than I expected. I've had knees replaced and other stuff on larger parts of my body and didn't expect this to be as knarly as it is.
Has anyone else out there had this done or no anyone who has? I am one month out of surgery today and still trying to get the wound to heal but man....the scar tissue feels like I am wearing a baseball glove...hard to explain.
Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

I feel your pain. I have had five surgeries for this. The last one had three fingers that were contracted. Surgery lasted 5 1/2 hours, Do your PT for sure.

I am doing all of my therapy and exercises -- it is starting to happen to my other hand as well and I would imagine the same result will occur.

I had "thumb clicking" on both hands the beginning of the year. The left one really bothered me. I had the surgery to cut the "pulley" at the base of the thumb and it was painless and fixed me up in 2 weeks. I know it was just the thumb but it is fixed. I have good flexibility and no more clicking at the joint. The right clicking went away on its own. Sounds like the fingers contracture is worse.

I finally had both thumbs xrayed Tuesday, they’ve been locking up and at times the sharp pain is incredible. I’ve been referred to a hand specialist but I’m playing it slow for now.

My right middle finger kind of locks in the closed position. Doesn’t hurt but weird.
My left thumb is having bad issues though. It feels like I have two tendons when I roll my finger around at the base and sends a jolt of severe pain when I try to do something as simple as squeeze the mouthwash bottle cap to take it off.
You’re still sounds worse though. Sorry to hear and hope you heal quickly.

I have developed this lately. Luckily it is on the stranger so it doesn't bother me much.

I am four weeks out and making progress every day...my goal is to be back on a race bike by mid February - I race old man motocross, my throttle hand must be right or I wont do it.

I've had the surgery done twice, and both times the surgeon commented that I should have done it sooner. I still have one finger that won't straighten. Makes it harder to put on gloves and play the guitar.

Best friend Dave has had it done to both hands. One hand it was the ring finger, the other was the pointer and middle finger. He started with cortisone based shots, they worked for about 8 months, then poof it would return and lock them up harder than before. After surgery and healing he was happy with the results. He wasn't keen on missing fishing for about a month or so.
