We’ve been doing a yearly fishing trip to Texas for over 30 years. The house we typically rent on Fork is booked for the time we usually go at the end of April. We are looking to go to Lake O the Pines.
Any feedback? Looks like a 19,000 acre lake.
Thanks NattySnax

You should be hitting it pretty prime and will be able to catch them however you wish.

I would suggest looking to see when the Big Bass Classic is happening. You don’t want to be “pleasure fishing” that weekend. That lake is a zoo during that tournament.

We did move away from Rayburn because of a big bass splash. I’ll look into that classic

Pines is beautiful snd fishes fun. The giant Salvinia was pretty thick in places this year. Be sure to clean your boat and trailer well!

KYKX Big Bass Bonanza will be the first weekend of May every year. Avoid the lake at all cost for pleasure fishing, it’s a zoo time two. I get suckered into it every year just for tradition.

Bois d’ arc would be better plus it’s a new lake. Just find an air bnb. It’s a very good lake should be better come spring. Just sayin. It’s about 19000 acres full of timber J. D

Pines is beautiful snd fishes fun. The giant Salvinia was pretty thick in places this year. Be sure to clean your boat and trailer well! I drove to Texarkana earlier in the week, and on my drive back, I crossed LOP on the 155 bridge. The wind was pushing the salvinia against the earthen part of the bridge where the launch ramp is. TPWD was actively spraying it. They were in an airboat, and the stream of water coming out of that spray rig was reaching half-way across the patch of weeds. I could see more of it coming across the lake from the islands. JR
