I have mine turned off on my 2019 F150 gasser. They claim the starters are built to take it but I’m calling BS on that. I just can’t believe that it does not decrease the life of a starter at some point..

I’m sure it’s harder on alternators as well. Constantly starting the vehicle is hard on the entire electrical system. I bet the battery never really gets fully charged in stop and go traffic.

I had it on my last two co cars, and I didn’t like it. And it could not be disabled without breaking co car rules

It’s our tax dollars at work saving the world…
I’ve never felt like I’ve spent better money than having my truck start and stop a dozen times after I get in it…
Going green is awesome…

Instead of tearing into the dash and buying expensive parts- just get a 7 pin trailer plug and leave it installed all the time- truck thinks you have a trailer and stop start is disabled. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2024/12/full-114599-251832-img_2872.jpeg)

I need to try this. Since I live in a rural area I don't usually encounter stop and go traffic. That's not true when I go to Dallas. Why does it make a difference if the truck thinks you have a trailer?

I bought a 2023 Honda CRV and it had this feature. I bought a bypass (disconnect) and installed it for less than 40 bucks. The auto makers know how long your starter will last and programmed the vehicle to throw a code prior to it failing. Once the code comes up, the stop/start will quit and you need to replace the starter and reset the computer.

I’m going to throw in my freaking automatic deploy and retractable running boards.
What a nightmare waiting to happen.
I’m wondering how many times they deploy before that system breaks down.

My wife's Jeep GC has the auto start/stop. It doesn't bother me, but there is a button you can push to disable it. As for the AC it will continue to run when in stop mode.

My wife and have owned Hybrids for the past 10+ years. At a stop hybrids engines stop but all the important things stay on AC and water pump and everything else continue operate. Hard to believe auto stop/start can't operate the same way.

I’m wondering how many times they deploy before that system breaks down. I had customers bring the motors off the retractable running boards and retractable RV's some I can fix and they're crazy expensive if you can find new ones...
