A while back I bought a 2024 GMC AT4 with the baby Duramax as a going to town truck. Overall I have been fairly satisfied with it as I am averaging 29 mpg but it pissed me off that it was equipped with auto start/stop, on a diesel motor no less what kind of EPA BS is that? I ran across this and bought it and installed it, other than disassembling half the dash it has been money well spent and I can't recommend it enough.

Did you just not like pushing the button on the dash?

I hate the auto stop/start, it should be illegal.

The run/stop works well in my Ram truck. Usually hardly notice when it's working all except bumper to bumper hwy traffic during a wreck or stopping a lot in a parking lot.

Exactly...it's free, already installed and won't mess with any warranty. Although I dont have a gmc diesel I still use it on my Ford.

I don't even really notice it. My last couple of trucks and my wife's cars have had it. I guess I've learned to tune it out.

On the Ford the button that disables the auto stop/start has to be reapplied every time the ignition is turned off. But there is a wire that you can unplug below the steering column that will truly disable this annoying feature. As I recall, there may be issues associated with towing if you do so. Google it if curious.

I don't see how restarting your car several times per day could increase the life of your starter or not damage the flywheel.

I'm enjoy this feature selling and rebuilding starters with this feature has been good for business...

All new cars have to have that feature now. Suppose it is impactful in a big city gridlock, but it sure is annoying when it shuts your AC compressor off when it is 110* in the summer.

I didn’t realize they put it on diesel engines. Seems like that would make emissions worse rather than better.

If you put the climate control on Max A/C then the motor won't shut off.
