This year around Xmas Eve or day I would like to go to a hospital or treatment center and hand out presents to children with cancer
Problem is I’ve never done it before and don’t know where to start.
If any of you have suggestions please let me know. Would like to try and go somewhere in the Fort Worth area vs Dallas.

Any suggestions on where to go and how to set it up with the hospital?

Thats a tough one I think-

Really cool idea and no doubt would brighten some hearts-

However, many of those kids are immunocompromised and the hospitals are very cautious of exposure for obvious reasons so going room to room could get some resistance-

Maybe take some toys/gifts to the waiting area and let the front desk know what is available, that way those that are able can come to you with their caregiver-

I know it's not Ft. Worth, but I bet St. Jude's in Dallas could be a great place to call and find out about stuff like this. If you do happen to go up there, bring yourself a lot of tissues.

Cook Children's is always needing and asking for toy donations. Steve is right in that the kids are immunocompromised, so they can't share toys. Once a kid gets one, it's theirs, so the hospital doesn't have a "toy closet" that any patient can go use the toys and then take them back.

Cook's Children's Hospital in Fort Worth would also be an option.

You can make it happen if you truly desire too. However, nothing in the “regulations” today make it simple to help thy fellow man. It most likely will be “by way of.” What a wonderful gesture though. 👍

Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

I commend you for wanting to do this. The families and kids would be ultra grateful. As stated above, the health concerns need to be known. If you call the hospitals above, I know they will point you in the correct direction. Many have dedicated dates / times when you as a volunteer can deliver the well wishes you desire.

Be prepared for some heart breaking moments, as these kids are going through extremely difficult times but won't show you that.

You can witness some of the strongest human beings you didn’t know existed and maybe in the meantime re evaluate whats really important in life at these children’s hospitals-

You can adopt as many residents as you want at a nursing home. They will have a list of the residents that don't have family members to celebrate with and would welcome gifts for them. We ordered wheelchair blankets and wheelchair side bags from Amazon. Those will be wrapped and delivered to the care center for some of the residents where my mom now lives.

Merry Christmas Y'all!!!!

This is what we do for our local Senior center. We adopt 3-4 a year and our kids help pick out gifts for them. Blankets, robes, socks, and even baby dolls are ordered more often than realized.

If you're in Dallas, there is a place called the Promise House in Oak Cliff that my wife and I donate to. Clothes, toys, etc. When my dad was still alive he and I would go to nursing homes and play music for them Dad was an awesome harmonica player and mostly stayed out of his way playing acoustic guitar for him. Sure miss that. One year my wife and I did a charity show for a company that hires physically AND mentally challenged people. Mike Doocey is the MC and he is an incredibly generous person. The entire group went nuts when he walked in the door, and started shouting...Mike...Mike...Mike. As we performed I saw Mike go to each and every person there and give them all a hug. Even the most severely mentally disabled that normally wouldn't let you hug them felt safe with Mike. Kudos Mike Doocey, well done brother!
