When wiring in an automatic bilge pump and you don't have a 3 position switch, should I fuse the always hot (Auto) line that I run to the battery?

The installation instructions don't say or address this scenario.

Common sense tells me I should.

That is the way mine is run. Many years ago I forgot to pull the drain plug and drove home in a rain storm. Saw the bilge water pumping out and pulled into a carwash to pull the drain plug. You always want power to the automatic one.

What ssmith said, sorry I forgot to include this in my post. That is the cheapest insurance against a fire you can get on a boat also can prevent burning up a pump that gets something solid it it.

Thanks guys, Seaflo has some pretty sketchy instructions. But it makes absolute sense for both hot wires to be fused.
