Ok, let's get down to the details.
First, get this out of the way, used a offset smoker for 30 years. Was really good with it, but babysitting a cooker is not in the future plans.
So, the recteq got used a LOT, cooked steaks, burgers and stuff on it, also did a admirable job smoking a brisket or ribs. BUT....it also requires a decent amount of maintenance keeping it cleaned out and working properly.
So, actually using the egg, what's different? What does it do better, what does it do not quite as good?
It's a lifetime grill. I use real wood chunks in my egg and light my coal with a map gas torch. The temperature control is excellent and easy. Once I get it set on a long smoke I rarely have to adjust. The bad would be that not everyone learns how to be an expert with an egg. It has a learning curve but once you get it figured out there is no better grill.

Pro tip, use quality pellets that don't have fillers and oils for flavor and you will have a lot less ashes. Yeah, cheap pellets are tempting but make a lot more ashes. With good pellets I can go through 30-40#'s before I have to vacuum it out. With cheap ones its more like 10-20#'s and they also leave an oily residue. I settled in on the bulk bags of B&B Championship Blend from Academy. Been using them for several years. Great flavor and very little mess. https://www.academy.com/p/b-b-40-lb-championship-blend-pellet-grill-fuel?gmc_feed=t&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=SEM-Shopping&utm_content=Shopping&utm_campaign=Non-Brand|PerformanceMax|SportsRec|Recreation&ogmap=SEM|PLN|GOOG|SHOP|m|SNR|IM|Non-Brand-PerformanceMax-SportsRec-Recreation||18325033100&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA6aW6BhBqEiwA6KzDcxyU9pb1TTRRfHDnRE6DzGAfxMkrLgt1ddOghqlOG9SyHmnISVw9VhoCs2EQAvD_BwE

Never used an Egg but i recently acquired a RecTeq Bullseye and I'm ruined. Already gave my stick burner to my son, I've always been a Weber Kettle fan and still have a 14", 22" and 26" kettles, only fired them up once since the Bullseye showed up.

My WSM finally gave out, likely replacing it with a recteq BFG. They are nice. I will still have the egg, but need capacity like the WSM had when I do not want to drive to the big pit.
