Getting ready to change from United Healthcare and thought I’d ask if anyone has a good supplement plan with drug coverage for under $100 a month. We did well with Advantage plans for years but now the wife has full blown Rheumatoid Arthritis and the drugs and specialist visits are killing us. We are in a financial position where the new $2,000 annual drug max is no great comfort since That number is huge compared to what we paid in years past. The drug discounts offered by the big pharma companies have denied us because they will not accept anyone on medicare.

I have a broker but not too happy with the options available here in East Texas

I have physicians mutual and WellCare for drug plan. I have a meeting with my broker next Monday. My understanding is you can't go from advantage plan to part G unless you can pass some questions about your health. Good luck.

Contact MedicareHero.com and let them know what prescriptions yall have and what doctors and hospitals you use. Im afraod rheumatoid anything will prevent you from getting a plan G. You likely will have to stay with an advantage plan, so, let them find the best option. Also, do yourself a favor and register(if you havent already) your Medicare .com account. From there you can search for yourself what plans are available amd list all doctors, hospitals and prescriptions. Good luck. Hope it all works out.

Original Medicare, Plan G and Plan D is costing me $4,994.96 this year. This is with me getting the Plan G as soon as I got Part B.
With the max out of pocket for drugs, I am at $9,000 for the year.

Were you able to pass underwriting from the insurance company. Your prices you get from an agent will be based on your zip code. Some parts of the state are cheaper than others. I have a friend in Oklahoma and Medicare Advantage isn`t available / offered in their area any longer due to it not being profitable for insurance companies. They are switching to a supplement without going thru underwriting due to the insurance company discontinuing coverage.

S&W and Humana in contract negotiations now. Contract expires 12/31. Sure hope they can come to agreement.

Hypothetically, If you were on Advantage and couldn't pass underwriting, could you move to a zip code where it was not available and go on a supplement? Just Wondering

I have no idea to be honest. I`ll bet you have to be living in an area where it was dropped and be on an advantage plan in that area prior to an insurance company discontinuing coverage to said area. Insurance companies cover their own [censored] better than most. Best advice is to ask an agent.

Call Ben Greifer (847) 513-3007. He does this sort of thing for a living. No cost to you. He has helped me out the last few years.

The one problem with an agent is they are always going to sell you an Advantage plan.
