Mudsharks thread got me to thinking, How many different spices do you have in your cupboard? How many do you actually use?

I have more than I will ever use if I live to be a 100 yrs old. I have a place at the lake that I have just as many and as much.

Most stuff has more salt than I like so I have been mixing my own here lately. How many different spices do you have?

I guess I need to thin my herd.

Garlic powder is my #1 spice. Pepper grinder with black pepper is the other. My cabinet is full of spices. Rosemary, Thyme, Oregano. Only mixed seasoning I have, is the ALDI Cajun stuff.

Oh, dear Lord, I don't know... I cook all the time and prefer a variety. I have 3 spice shelves on the kitchen counter, a side cabinet dedicated to just spices, and then another shelf and rotating spice holder in the cabinet above the stove. I'd guess 50 different herbs and spices...and then some of the seasoning mixes like Old Bay, Mrs. Dash, Slap Ya Mama, etc.

A fair amount.

Red pepper flakes
Cayenne pepper
Onion powder
Garlic salt
Black pepper
Lemon pepper
Numerous rubs we have been experimenting with
Parsley
Italian seasoning
Probably more I am forgetting

I bought one of those Oxo brand zest grater. It's defiantly a nice kitchen tool. It did away with me needing lemon or lime type powdered seasonings. Fresh grated lemon peel is where it's at.

Do you wash them after each use?

No, because I wash my hands while cooking so if they ever touch raw meat, I wash them before I touch anything else...part of being in the healthcare field. I am very clean and cognizant of such things.
