Dang, that was big!

What a let down. At least it would be for me. I would catch that nasty thing while fishing for Bass in a tournament.

Great fish for sure. I don't know where the info came from that it was a world record.

The International Game Fish Association (IGFA) world record for the all-tackle weight of a smallmouth buffalo is 82 lb 3 oz (37.3 kg), caught by Randy Collins in Athens Lake, Texas on May 6, 1993.

I thought he said it was a "Line Class Weight Record". The State Record is 82.22 Lbs and the Decker Record is 69.12.


Side Note: The IGFA has world records for line classes. Also Austin Anderson, the guide, is nationally known for catching different BIG species of sucker fish. He catches some very big fish and puts his clients on big fish. Never met him, but hopefully some day would like to book him on one of his trips.

Arthur Weston is very active right now in catching IGFA World Records. He has 79 world records from 6 countries. He recently documented the new All-tackle alligator gar record at 283 pounds. He has All-tackle, line class, tippet class, and length records. He often uses guides to locate fish for his records. He fished with Anderson for a week and has several pending line class records right now. Excellent angler, excellent guide.

I had to listen to the video again to catch the line class record - the caption just said world record. Regardless, that was a big fish.

Austin has since caught a 72lb. I wne with him in September and we cought over a dozen buffalo and only 2 were UNDER 30lbs, most AVERAGED 45lbs. It was nuts
