Wife and I started the morning going to breakfast and then grocery shopping. It was too nice a day to be off the water so I loaded up and went to Bastrop lake and she went to work. What a life!
Got to the lake around 11:30. Water temperature was in the upper 70's and was stained.
I was out there couple of weeks ago and found a brush pile not too far from the ramp. I got it marked as a floating brush pile. Now before you say that is impossible, you can see the picture attached and make your own determination, but I lost several lures in that thing. Caught 25 sunnies before they got tired or smart and stopped attacking the earth worms I was feeding them. Left the area and started chasing the bass. Caught several small ones and then landed a 4.12lb guy lurking around a large bolder. Ended the day at 4 pm with 25 sunfish and 7 bass.

Good day Zane...That underwater image looks like a school of baitfish to me, but don't see how you could lose lures on a pod of shad ?? Also, have you ever really fished for sunfish in the summer on Bastrop ?

Thanks Steve, Banker and GTrigg.
Banker - I may have to throw some in the cooler next time out. They are delicious.
Steve - I've fished that blob three different times and it hasn't moved. I have no idea what it could be. First time I used crappie jigs and lost several, second time was with gulp alive and caught a few, and this last time was with worms. I have searched for spawning areas this past summer with no luck, but there's lots of area I haven't covered. This lake is similar to decker; has lots of weed beds, hydrilla. A lot of the fish I caught were in the 8" range.

i'm guessing it's tethered to an anchor and just floated up to the end of its tether

Thanks Laker, Pot Licker, randallm, and gar
Randallm, gar - Your probably right. Next time I'm out there I'll scope it from different sides and increase sensitivity.
