Cities should have regulations in place that limit pit bull ownership to one or two. They seem to be much more likely to be agressive when they are in groups.
They could also require permits and have to pass a test to determine if they are agressive or passive. Those that are taught to be agressive should not be allowed.
My daughter has one. Bandit is a babycakes but when he's outside he is afraid of nothing. I don't have a problem with people interacting with him but if there are dogs in the area that are agressive I believe he could go off on them.

I do not trust them, if I am around one I immediately go into a defense mode, I would never ever let my grand children around one, that being said I had two good friends who had one, both of those dogs were very good dogs.

My neighbor that is located behind me has 3. He says they are American Bulldogs; I do not care. They are vicious and attack and tries to chew through our stockade fence when anyone goes in our backyard. They have destroyed his yard and torn up the fences on each side of his yard (he does replace them). He told me they are sweet, and he will bring them over to my house for I can get to know them. I told him to pound sound, that it is his issue. Control your dogs.

I love animals in general but I hate pits. I don't believe you can ever "gentle" a pit. In every one of them, no matter how superficially loving and gentle they are, there's always that inbred viciousness waiting for something to trigger it. Couple houses down neighbor (a real PoS, too) has his whole place fenced with 1/4" pony wire panels. When I take my pup on her evening walks we go by there every other day. When we walk by his pit goes berserk growling and biting the bejesus out of the fence. Yes, I am armed and have my hand on the grip of my pocket cannon as soon as I see or hear the pit.
Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

One got out across the street from me and attacked a dog a girl was walking. I didn't jump in the middle as she herself wasn't getting attacked. cops took forever to arrive. I warn dog walkers now.

I trust a pit about as much as a wolf, both even if trained can go nuts at a moments notice.

I think about 90 percent of the people who own them aren't fit too. Exactly. When one is around me I have my hand on the .45 in my waistband. Remember to keep a round or two back for the owner.

If you'll notice at least half the dog video's on FB show "cute" pits being friendly and all.

Took 2 to kill this 73 year old woman working in her flowerbed. Probably coulda been done by one though, poor old woman, what a way to go out: In her yard planting flowers --- Ohio
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it !

Most of the time what I see is a status symbol.

I guess I just don’t understand some folk’s fascination with the breed when it is well documented that they are unpredictable and can be deadly. What’s wrong with the other hundreds of dog breeds that do not have those tendencies? Why put yourself and family at unnecessary risk? it's a macho thing. You're a great big guy right??
