For those running g these chips in Garmin u it's how do the trails look? Can they be set up as lines like on a HB unit? Are they customizable in regards to color of lines etc?
Also is the mapping feature somewhat decent? I'm contemplating switching my other u it's over to Garmin. I love the 126sv I have for LVS.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Im not a fan of the mapping or GPS. I fish with a couple of guys that have Garmin set ups, and they are slow to load and slow to react when at speed.

I'm mostly referring to the boat lanes chips that Lance and Tom have.

Boatlane or Guidelane capabilities on Garmin are well more limited than Lowrance or Humminbird units. Lowrance is well more capable and friendly than the other two.
Garmin lanes capabilities are pretty much stuck in 1990 GPX technology. where you'll have only single color track with waypoints as hazard signs. Some lakes do have Warning, Caution or Idle colored trails, but they are fewer.
Humminbird SOLIX units are a major PIA to build. Garmin units are a more PIA to build.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks I run the Lance chip for Fork on my Garmins. The lanes are great and easy to follow. I don't know if you can change the color, i've never tried.

Boat lanes are okay. My problem is you can only have 50 tracks on a unit loaded at a time. I'm not sure how HB does it, but that's a real annoyance if you want to have multiple lake boat lanes ready to go.

Mark,
I run Garmin and HB units and the boat lanes for HB and Lowrance are far superior to Garmin’s support for the lanes and amount of trails and waypoints.
If interested I can send you the difference between Garmin and HB lane comparisons on Lake Fork.
