My neighbor let's his run loose. He comes to see me every day. I feed him pork rinds. I figure it's better that he likes me.

our house just talked about pits, yesterday. My daughters 1yr old black lab female wandered over to see the neighbors fenced pit bulls(2). We all live on 2-3 acres, our pup is ridiculously friendly to all animals and people. She is a sweetheart. Well, as she approached their fence, those two pits were ready to rip her apart. She doesn't know better, and just layed down next to the fence in a very submissive manner. Those dogs were biting and pulling the chain link, foaming. I picked up our puppy and the pit's owner and I both apologized to each other. Dang sure made me nervous. That evening they put 'beware of dogs' signs up. Those dogs are vicious.

“…She described the security footage of the attack as "sickening." Culbertson (her brother who was just biking by) received over 500 stitches for his injuries. Had he not died on November 6, he would have had one hand, and a leg amputated, lived on dialysis and had a tracheotomy for the rest of his life, she said.
According to Angela, KC Pet Project responded to the scene after the attack, along with police, and returned the dogs to the dog owner's yard. They returned the next day with a search warrant, but all seven pit bulls involved in the attack -- along with 15 puppies that were inside the home -- had disappeared. This is when Angela learned there had been over 15 complaints filed about the dogs prior to attacking her brother. Two large holes at the bottom of the fence line continue to be visible. …”

I'm normally not a fan of them. This one is funny as hell and a big baby.

Usually these threads include some picture of a pit snuggled up to their grandkids and comments about them being big lovable babies and never would harm a soul. The true example of willful ignorance.

The issue with pits is in general, is that even if they are great pets, IF they bite, they have such a bite force that they can cause a TON of damage in a hurry. I had a pit years ago, and he was a sweet dog. Not aggressive to other animals when we went walking and surely not aggressive to people. But, if an animal came to our yard, he wouldn't have it. He was so dangerous someone stole him from me! LOL.

Not a fan of the breed but all pit bulls are not the same, many are bred to be aggressive. I do agree owners should be held accountable, civil and criminal.

We live in a semi-rural area with large lots. Recently, new neighbors moved in with three. They electrified their chain-link fence and posted “Warning” signs. They have a couple of wheelbarrow tires as chew toys and are constantly rough-housing/fighting (difficult to tell) each other - often triggered by an occasional stray or neighbor afoot. Prevents our grandchildren from riding their bikes, etc. out front - just to risky.

Fortunately for us, “For Sale” signs recently went up on their property…
