The new fracking technology is using produced water as frack fluid. That is the water that comes up with the oil from 2 miles deep, as opposed to the ground water. It is pretty fascinating, and something they should have done long ago.

It has changed too. Andrews had about 10,000 most my life but is supposed to boom to about 75000 in the next 10 yrs.

I was born and raised in Big Spring and spent a great amount of time in the Permian Basin and further west. Retired in 2011, moved to Abilene and seldom go back. When I do it's usually to hunt.

If Andrews does grow like that they will have to cave and allow a Walmart to be built.

they have actually been doing this for years. The thought they just go get fresh water to frac with is not accurate. The reason when you mixed well bore water you can create a chemical reaction and cause deposits in pipe and pumps. The fresh water is used more in fresh water wells. They use well bore water from same formation to keep this from happening. When I got to Wyoming for Coalbed Gas it was nearly all fresh water down south in oil and gas wells it was saltwater from like formations.

Not all of it but a large share. They have some waterwall fields in or near Pecos and you have to remember that all CRMWD lakes supply the area. Some of the towns are members and some are just customers. I think everybody that moves in should bring their own water. Lol

The water in Fort Stockton tasted like unsweetened Gatorade. Can't see it being that better in Midland.

I'm sure it goes through a process, I haven't drank water from the tap in Odessa or Midland in 30 yrs.

its an amazing industry & you get caught up in all that surrounds it
i am pursuing more work there
i wouldn't mind living there

some horrible drivers but not as bad traffic

So you think it is amazing as long as it’s not near you in Arlington?
Fascinating since all I e heard you do is down talk drilling and fracking for years.

Spend a week a month there last 20 years
Oilfield runs on diesel fuel and they use a lot of it.

Pretty good right now, busy but not insane. Still gotta watch yourself on the roads. Guys pulling 20 hour shifts may not be alert.

Then you see genuine knuckleheads like this idiot. 700 barrel fuel bomb.
