I had a 1972 IH Scout with a 345 V8. The engine was cold blooded as he77, but when it got a little heat in the engine, the truck was unstoppable. It was built like a tank. True story. One fall Sunday around noon, my FIL and I decided to head to the lake. I was in my Scout pulling my 2 seat 14' stick steer bass boat. After stopping at an intersection, the light turn green for me and I pull out into the intersection. A lady in a big Buick ran the red light and t-boned me in the drivers side door doing 55 MPH. Witnesses said it the Scout jumped up into the air and moved a couple feet to the right and set down on all 4 tires. The post that held the boat's winch twisted 90 degrees but held. My FIL got a cut on his head after hitting the rear view mirror due to the side impact because we didn't wear seat belts in those days. I had no apparent injuries but hurt like he77 the next few days. The body shop guys speculated that what saved me was that the drivers side door had a piece of guard rail inside the door. I'm not exactly sure what happened to the lady that hit me. I'm pretty sure she did not fare very well because she was not wearing a seat belt so you can imagine what happened to her.

I'm sure what they call a Scout today would not survive that type scenario.

We used to have an old 70's model International Scout for our hunting vehicle. That truck could climb slopes too steep for mountain goats.

This particular vehicle doesn't interest me. But an EV with all the off-road capabilities of that old machine, or one of the UTV's they have today, with the battery capacity to make sure I don't get stuck in the middle of nowhere 20 miles away from camp... that would be interesting.

Has anyone seen the crab walk feature on the new Hummer EV? I saw where it's 0% APR as well for qualified buyers. I would guess that's through GM Financing.

If they ever come to their senses and decide to put a gas or diesel in it I'd buy one. Looked one over a few weeks ago when I was getting the oil changed in my Sierra and really liked everything about it other than being an EV

Its coming out in two versions.
One strictly electric with a 350 mile range.
The other "Harvester" option will have a 500 mile range with an ICE engine that will be used to charge the batteries.

I believe Ram is coming out with something similar to the Harvester option next year, called the Ramcharger. Its a battery based truck which will have an ICE that can charge the battery.

So you are going to have an internal combustion engine that will only be used to charge the battery. Got it.
