We had the Texas B.A.S.S. Nation Championship this past weekend on Bois d’Arc Lake and let me tell you I got my butt whooped! I was able to practice for a few hours after work last week as its a 6hr round trip drive for me and with my Oklahoma tournament schedule I wasn't able to get out there and practice like I should have. I really didn't figure anything out other than I did not like the lower end of the lake.

Tournament day I launched at the South Boat Ramp since the North Boat Ramp is closed due to low water levels, at take off I ran to the closed boat ramp and wanted to fish the man made rock walls since there was no natural rock in this lake and it did not pan out. I was able to get a small 12.50" on a small swimbait off some brush on a underspin within the first hour, and after that it was hours before my next bite. I pulled up to the end of the spillway where it transitioned to a flat bank and I found shad getting busted there. I threw my wake crankbait out and immediately had one that looked to be 3lbs at the boat but I was unable to get a good hook in it and it turned and came off. Next cast I was able to get a 14.75" and that was the last bite for the rest of the day.

Its a neat lake but definitely does not fish to my strengths at all and it showed with my results. The top guys really figured it out but unfortunately I could not, next weekend is my last tournament for the year and is my favorite as well which is the Native No Limit on Lake Fork.

Nice report, the lake his potential but has not been full long enough for the fish to spread out over all the water areas.

I've fished it four times from Kayak, north and south sides, fish are grouped up in certain areas like most new lakes.

Give it a couple more years and it should be much better unless too many tournaments get held on it.

Slide right, coming in .... Fish On!
