My neighbor and I were fishing up the river on Stillhouse this past Friday. Ran into a couple who were crappie fishing. They'd only caught 1 at that time. Ran into them a few more times; the last they said they'd only caught 5. The gentleman said he'd done much better up on 'Cow Creek' on Lake Belton, and added it was best before the ' big hole'. Neither my neighbor or I are very familiar w/ Belton. Checked maps when I got home. And realized there were 'Owl' and 'Cowhouse' Creeks. I assume they'd meant 'Cowhouse'. Any idea where this big hole is he was talking about?
TIA

They may be referring to Belton being nearly 20' low last year. Other than that....I have been fishing Belton for over 30 years and never heard of or know of a big hole.

Never heard of anything called the big hole. Going up Cowhouse in the lake, after the lake narrows down, you make the first 3-4 bends, there's an area of water about 20ft deep before the creek shallows up again. Area is about 150yds long. May be what they were referring too.
