Bought a boat and brought the motor back from the dead, kind of wondering if there are any good catfishing spots close to the boat ramp incase I have to break out the paddles.

You should be able to catch them in the trees along the bank straight across from the ramp. The best way to find the hotspots is to watch the pontoon boats. There are several catfish guides out there. Most of them are this size. grin

Take some earthworms with you. They are very productive in Squaw for a variety of fish including catfish, drum, bass, and tilapia. If you don’t get a bite on a worm in 30 minutes then change locations. There are some big drum in Squaw grin

The wife likes then skinned and whole so that is the perfect size. Tilapia eat worms? I had a friend swear by canned peas and green beans. Says corn isn't near as good. But looking forward to it. So is the grandson.

I have tried almost everything for tilapia over the decades, including peas. Earthworms are much better. For the really big ones, use a piece of cut bait about the size of a sugar cube. I catch a lot of them on a fly, but the conditions have to be right.

My grandson and fishing partner got in a car accident yesterday and though he wasn't seriously hurt, just some banged up ribs, busted knuckles and a knot on his head he says he won't be able to go? My God man what is up with the newer generation? I would have to be sequestered in a hospital bed not to go fishing!

Well I razzed him and got him to rough it out, hah! Seems he really did a number on his ribs though. Poor kid has to fish with his tough ole Grampa.

Keep an eye on him. Some injuries don’t show up for a few days. I am glad it wasn’t worse. We are all just one phone call away from a life change. angel2
