My brother and his son flew down from Indianapolis last Friday for some Texas fishing and I was surprised with the results!
Friday through Sunday we fished Fork. It was semi-successful with fairly low numbers of black bass and no lunkers. We hired a guide one day and they helped a lot.
Monday we did Bois D’Ark and got about 10 bass and nothing over 2 pounds. We did not know much about the lake and may not have given it much of a chance.
Tuesday and Wednesday we went back to my Dallas home and fished Lewisville - it was on. Got 20 to 30 black bass per day with several in the 4-5 pound range. We were using 4” Yum Dingers dipped about 1/4” on one end in chartreuse dipping dye rigged Texas style. We also caught crazy big whites - at least 20 over 4 pounds. Never seen whites so big. Also caught some huge crappie, catfish, and a monster drum. Excellent fishing action for my brothers son.

Sounds like you hit a bunch of spots! The yum dingers were weightless?

Big whites over 4 pounds? They were probably hybrid stripped bass. If you kept any, make sure you know that they have a minimum length of 18" and 5 per person.

I tried to get in this morning at the local boat ramp and there was no parking. I went to another ramp down the road and there was no parking there either. I came back home now. Everybody should stay away, no more room on the lake

There will be plenty of boats out there this weekend pre fishing .

We were using 1/4 weights rigged Texas style and did not keep any of the fish. I guess the whites could have been hybrids, I gave up trying to tell the difference long ago because we just throw them back anyway. They were too big to swing into the boat. We weighed the first couple just because they were so big. All of the blacks came on plastic and most were in about 10 ft of water..
