An hourly Big Bass Event put on by the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce! Nov. 16 - $125 per angler Registration - Nov. 15 at Rudy's Country Store and BBQ, Del Rio Texas 4pm-9pm
I think Amistad might suck more than Choke was sucking and people there are clueless on how to load & unload a boat, I had never seen anything like it. It took 45mins to finally get our turn to load the boat onto the trailer and we did it in about 1 minute. I won’t be going back until another ramp is open somewhere. Nice event with a great payout, but I won’t be fishing anymore out there.

No, I didn’t have to walk the hill. It was all the stupid people out there, it was just beyond baffling. Idiots were getting stuck on the ramp, they’d literally drive 10’ and just start burning out, then they’d have to stop and put it in 4wd. Heaven forbid they put it 4wd before getting stuck and wasting more time.
I had a guy rear end my boat trailer while waiting in line, the idiot wasn’t looking. Yeah I get it, he’s only in a line of boats and trailers for 45 minutes, I can see how he could forget there was one in front of him. 45 minutes to load the boat….
Oh but I did get to see what happens when someone doesn’t pay attention to shallow water, guy tore his skeg off and cupped all 3 ears of the prop over.
Last time I was out there, a guy didn’t have the hitch pin in the receiver. He goes to pull his boat & trailer out and the entire hitch slid right out of the receiver, boat and trailer hit the ground and roll back til the safety chains finally stopped it. That was real cool, the entire ramp was blocked for 30mins. Just a real special type of person out there.
Great event, just horrible with only 1 ramp available. Why aren’t they working on extending any of the other ramps (rhetorical question, nobody can answer it)??? Same could be said for every lake around here now though.

If it makes you feel any better I fished a club tournament on EV Spence yesterday. 9 people entered and only 3 fish were weighed in. Was a tie for 1st place with a pair of 3.06's and I took 2nd (technically 3rd because of tie) with a 2.46. Talk about a grind. Still beats walking up that ramp.

Surprisingly, the weights weren’t quite as bad as I expected. Two 6 pounders, several 4 pounders lots 1-2’s. Biggest I had was about 2lbs, but were way too far to drive for that one lonely fish.

I agree, the fishing was slow. Maybe the full moon had something to do with it 🤔 I only saw 2 trucks get stuck on the ramp. A white Chevy and a black dodge but it was less than a minute they were stuck. The pontoon that launched in the middle of everyone pulling out was what took the most time and blocked one lane of the ramp for 10 minutes ,he didn't have anything ready. Boat straps were still attached as he backed into the water . Then then he had to remove the motor support and to top it off he had no control of the pontoon and was going back and forth blocking both lanes while boats were having to maneuver around him just to load up I didn't walk up the ramp either I got to sit in my boat while my wife walked up and backed down the trailer
The pontoon boat was 2 trailers behind us. The guy that rear ended my boat trailer, was in front of him. I think you took that pic just after we left, the guy in the red Jaguar had just pulled into the area when I was heading towards the trailer to load.

We got off just in time. He was approaching the hill. Noticed everything still attached. Still slow going. Good event caught a ton of small fish. Little windy but none big enough to weigh but one. We were too far up and too early to bring it in. That was us loading (black truck) next to the white truck. Had the same thing happen a few months back during a club T with a sail boat. Last week with a deck boat. The ramp situation sucks. The Chamber wants another in March then Sept. Heard the Permian will discontinue the SIT in 2025.
