If your going in a boat, hire a guide for the first day. I have been during the hot summer months and have bombed out except for some Reds at the Jetties. If you can find some lighted docks at night you should be able to catch a few trout. Good luck.

Kent,

The jetties at the mouth of the colorado are pretty good in Sept. If you do fish East bay..be VERY careful..there is a mid bay oyster reef that goes from about 4 ft to 4 inches of water in about 20 yards...its just East of Kain cove on the south shore line..probally about 180 yards from shore...Needless to say..I found it the hard way...OUCH OUCH OUCH....that reef is also a good spot in September.

If ya'll hit thw water early I'd go straight to Kain cove on the south shore..Throw Top water He dogs or SHe dogs in the bone or LSU pattern...Catch 200's work well too.

Oh one other thing..if you do go out to the jetties...once you hit the mouth of the colorado..slow way down...there is only a very narrow channel that you can motor through...basically once you clear the mouth take a hard right about 20 to 30 yards out from the right bank..to far left...very shallow..to far right..shallow...There is a big sand shoal that has built up.

Hit the surf if the water is right. Top waters real early if it's calm and live shrimp under a popping cork later.

Clean up...
