Hey Bob,
Who did the work on ya mota, I have a 280 offshore that will enevidably need some work. They don't last long at 7750rpms.
I haven't had any luck finding a good mech since I moved here. I wasn't real impressed with the staff at the dealer I bought my boat from either.
I have a Bullet 20xf comp hull with a 2.5 offshore.

http://www.jaysmithracing.com/I had heard Jay was going to retire, so you might want to check, but he has a great reputation on 2.5 motors.

I have Jay Smith in my back pocket along with Dwaine Roberie and Eric Simon. They have all done work for me and are outstanding mechanics.
I just a want a local mechanic that can troubleshoot a problem that only an experienced mechanic can. As of now I have only run into Techs that can't find their arsh with both hands.
This has lead me to buying a service manual for whatever motor I happen to own at the time, and I own a stack of them. They come in real handy and are worth every penny you pay for them.
I am seriously considering purchasing a Mercury DDT to read the computer.
