What’s your average cost these days at a sit down get waited on joint? Lucky to get under $20 these days.
We have a few on a rotation where it’s under $15 with decent tip. They are getting harder to find these days.
Even drive thru fast food is over $10.

I ate lunch out many years before retirement but the last 10 years or so I brown bagged it every day. Saved tons of cash and lost about 20 lbs.

Same here, we ate pretty good for lunch in and around Addison when the office was on the tollway. Later, after moving up to Plano, it was mostly fast food, mommas daughters, little Greek, etc. it got kinda expensive and that was in a better economy, I can’t imagine what it would cost today

I take my lunch when ever possible. Better food, better for you food and the cost savings is great. That being said, it doesn't always work out that I can.
Jack in the Crack offers breakfast all day and if you look, the prices on the breakfast items are $2-$5 cheaper than the lunch items. You can get a damn good and hearty breakfast sandwich, taters and a large drink for like $8. The lunch items start at like $12. I'll get the loaded breakfast sandwich combo with a giant drink (usually water with a splash of Powerade) and two of the oh so good Jack Tacos for $10.22 out the door. Of course, it does not come with a complimentary cardiologist appointment, but it does fill you up.

Only work 10 minutes from where I live so I usually eat at home and get to check on the dogs. Occasionally I bring lunch and can't even remember the last time I went out to eat.

I just like the break getting out of the office. Usually get there at 6am and start. By 11:30 looking forward to a break. Get a couple of others and BS during lunch.
Typical week I eat out 2-3 times, meeting meals 1-2 times and drive thru and work 1 time.
Probably spending ~$75 a week on lunch.
I need to make something to store in the freezer at work. Eating some good Italian soup right now. Should take a couple portions.

For the last 20 years of my working, my wife would make me a bologna and cheese and pickle sandwich. I’d usually eat that at brunch, but I was fortunate enough to live close enough to work. If I was hungry, I could go home and get something else. Save me a ton of Money

If you're trying to save money, do the Sam's/Costco hod dog or pizza combo.

I used to eat out every day prior to Covid. Now I take a cooked lunch to work...when I do eat out, it's usually around $15/person...and it's usually at Papaya Grill or the Flying Fish. On that note, Mom and I recently tried the new Mexican restaurant in Joshua, Don Melquias...EXCELLENT and reasonably priced!!!!

At a sit-down place with waiters, it's always around $25. I only do that on a week day if I have a lunch bussiness meeting. Besides being expensive, it's too time consuming to do everyday.

Intermittent fasting and I eat my one meal in the evenings so that'll be $0.00 .
