What has happened to our once great crappie lake .
The last 3 to 4 years it just get worse every year . At least now we are catching a few really small ones .

The fishing on Whitney has definitely declined the past few years and it’s all species. I think it’s just increased fishing pressure. They being said I scuba dive a lot around the lake and the number of small crappie I encounter this past summer was unreal.

my guess is that the previous flood I think was in 2016 has worn off meaning that there were really good spawns with the high water. Since then we have not had those high water conditions till this last spring.
if I hear correctly all the species have dropped off. Over the last few weeks I have found large schools of crappie but they very small fish which I think indicates that there was a very good spawn with the last flood.
So I expect the fishing to pick back up over the next couple of years. That's my guess hope I am right. And if incorrect we can always blame the stripers. LOL.

What I meant by the stripers on Whitney . Now they are even getting small in numbers . It uses to be so nice for crappie.
Then it gets worse every year it seems .
At least the small ones now are coming back .

The threadfin shad are already there in massive numbers. Previous years, threadfins were no where near as abundant as they are since this early spring/summer.
Gizzard shad are also abundant.
