Planning a trip to Cotter, Arkansas to do some trout fishing on the White River. Will be my first experience, so interested in finding a guide. Anyone have advice?

If heโ€™s not still guiding, Iโ€™m sure he can point you in the right direction.

Cranor's Guide Service has great guides. I've used them three times. They can put you on some big brown trout. Phone 866-789-6271 or 870-430-5484

Cranors is good info. Their guides can and will put you on large browns..That being said they are mainly bait fishing. If you have low water flow the Zig jigs in 1/32 and lighter cast with 2-4 # line will get you strikes and some crazy fights.. Jerk baits painted in brown trout and rainbow trout wil get you strikes from the larger trout. if you like lure fishing look for a quide who specializes in lure fishing. Fish during the week and you'll have easier fishing. The browns should be in spawning mode about now. With low water flow you wade or fish withayaks or small jon boats. Be aware that water rises fast.
I hope to go back up in about a month.
Tight lines!
