With all these chargers getting as hot as they do you would think you would be hearing people's boats catching fire. I went back to using single chargers. They are cheap single lithium chargers I found on ebay. They don't get hot, and they have an internal cooling fan. I have to hook up 3 separate 12v and a single 36v charger. Pain in the but, but have peace of mind. Oh well.

“Cheap” and “eBay”’is what would worry me when it comes to starting fires. roflmao

You need a Noco gen pro10 amp per battery it charges lithium yours does not

Hot to touch can’t spontaneously combust, now melting the case might cause a fire.

The little genius 2 I have has a lithium setting. I’m not sure, but if the cheapest NOCO charger made ($20 is what I paid for it brand new) has a lithium setting, the genius 5x2 probably does as well.

I believe the difference between the genius and “GenPro” is the pro is 10 amps per bank. They will all charge a lithium. I used the 2 amp to charge one of my Ionics and it took almost 24 hours from 25%. It eventually reached 14..2 volts and went into standby mode. The little charger I bought was just to use to keep my son’s car battery charged since he never drives it. I’m tired of buying a battery every year to get it inspected. roflmao

Maybe I’ll put one of my spare Ionics in his car. noidea

SteezMacQue, mine looks exactly like the one you have pictured. I made sure to set it to lithium. It looks like a nice charger but just don't trust it as hot as it got. I have a 21' Skeeter with a 300hp yamaha and don't want to take a chance it going up in smoke.

Mine is in the back of my skeeter. 1/2” away from the fuel tank. It plugged in 24/7. No fires. Don’t worry. It is specifically designed to be in a boat. It’s 100% sealed and doesn’t pose a fire hazard.

Mine has hydraulic fluid all over it. I broke a power pole hose a few months ago. I cleaned up a lot of it, but it still looks like I have armor all on the charger. I ain’t swetting it. roflmao

Some lithiums actually charge better in the AGM setting. I’ve tried both “Lithium” and “AGM” settings in my boat. I can’t tell a difference in the performance the next day. The guy from Ionic said sometimes the NOCO charges better on the AGM profile confused 3

Now you got me thinking. I think what I might do is exchange it for another and try charging it in the different modes and see which is better. Thank you for the input.

After about 12 years, my Minn Kota 15-amp lost a bank. I replaced it with a NOCO 3-bank, 10-amp charger. I am happy with it so far.

So, I went fishing and my wife took the charger to Bass Pro to replace it with another one. The guy in front of her was replacing the exact same charger. He told the lady his caught fire and you could see the top part was melted. My wife then returned mine and asked for a refund instead. The worker told them they were getting a lot of those particular chargers being returned. So, I guess I'm definitely back to using single chargers.
