I just got back from LOP after having spent two nights there. Here's a few pointers:
1) Don't fish the corps of engineers brush piles. There are tons of fish on them but they are spooky acting. If you do catch anything on them they will likely be undersized.
2) The better fish are on the timber in 18-24 feet and suspended above the thermocline at like 13-15 feet.
3) I had zero luck fishing minnows. It could be just me, but I regretted buying minnows. Every single fish I caught on jigs (smaller profile at that, pink and silver was my best color)
4) I was out there very early both days. By 11am the bite REALLY slowed down to a crawl. I talked to some other guys and they went out around 4pm and did ok. Moral of the story is when the sun got high, the bite was off.
Good luck. Let us know how you do.

Good luck. Let us know how you do. That’s solid advice!! We’ve been using 1/8 and 1/16 oz slab syndicate jigs in popcycle and bad shad! The size is impressive!! ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2024/10/full-1155-246643-img_8767.jpeg)

Slewfoot is right. If you find some they’re going to generally be good ones. Some of the blacks are just magnums right now

Struck out today except for a small channel cat. Fished all afternoon in standing timber 12-30 feet of water. We tried jigs and jigs tipped with minnows. Locals I talked to on water called them “finicky” recently.
