The wife (female, her, she) was singing a little song the other day. Those songs and this time of year when we are closing in on Fall and Christmas always brings back old memories of the "Variety Shows" Glen Campbell, Dean Martin, Carol Burnett, Smothers Bros. The list goes on and on. The Christmas specials were great while anticipating the holidays. Kinda weird seeing the hosts smoking on stage and that was probably not tea in Deano's glass. Good times laying on the living room floor and the visual in the link was not so bad for a healthy 12 yo boy.

A sidenote is that Boots was a mans song that she decided to record.
In the documentary title "The Wrecking Crew" she said her dad sang it and she thought that it wasn't a mans song.

I love all the old songs.

Not many know about The Wrecking Crew. They pretty much wrote it all back then.

Good times. Christmas time TV shows and specials were a part of growing up for me. Times have changed for worse in my opinion. Simpler times back in the day.. Wish I had a magic Time Machine so I could go back just for a little while.

Yep, back when you could watch tv with family and not be embarrassed by the commercials and content. I’ve always felt I was born about 30 years too late.

Family is everything!

Life is precious. We don’t have forever. We have now. This moment. We can choose to love our lives now.

Foster Brooks was great telling that he was an airline pilot and heading to work. Played a drunk well!

Foster Brooks was awesome...:) As was Don Rickels...

My folks luved the Xmas specials back in the day. Especially when we got our first color tv....neighbors came over and it was a party...:)

I don't long for the "good ole days"....didn't have the cancer treatments then we have now and that's why I'm still here and kicking. Same goes for other drugs we have that have improved life for everyone. Now if you want the "attitude" we might have had as a country back then well some of that might be something to be longed for....but not everything. Society moves forward and not always as we would like it too nor in a direction we all might agree with. But I sure as he** don't want to go back to the 1800's or 50's that some folks seem to think were some utopia. Dying early, disease's we have cures for now, etc. No I'll take today with all it's weirdness and divisiveness...at least we still have freedom and a system that's better than the rest of the world...with all our warts.

He was a one of a kind. Cancer has taken many from me. God bless in your journey, and I mean that sincerely.
