Is boat ramp still good? Is the water level still high enough to go for some fun fishing?
Thanks in advance...

Normally a power plant lake is pretty set on levels for its cooling purpose.

I have always been curious as to which power plant lake is in this report and which ones aren't. For instance, Fayette County Lake, Lake Bastrop and Lake Welsh aren't.

I was there a couple weeks ago and water level was fine. About a foot or so below full. Bass fishing was tough.

How often does the power plant on Coleto operate? last 2 times I fished it prolly 3-4 years ago. i had 2 17lb bags for a small club tournament, and another small club tournament i had maybe 12 lbs on 2 days that won.
fished it many times when i lived in Katy, always enjoyed fishing that lake.

This is actually good news. It means that someone has enough good sense to go ahead and pay the money to convert it, not close it down. They didn't make such a good decision for Gibbons Creek, Fairfield, Monticello, etc. Yes, it costs money to convert a power plant from coal to natural gas. It costs a lot more to build a new power plant and these power plants provide a surefire source of electricity, unlike windmills and solar panels. BTW - nothing is free. It costs big bucks to build anything.

Now if they would just let grass grow back in Coleto it could be one of the best under the radar bass lakes in Texas again but I know that'll never happen.

We fished it this past Friday and Saturday. Lake level is fine, ramps still suck but what's new. Typical dink fest by most, but a few good fish were caught on the riprap, deep points and in the discharge. Not much grass anywhere to speak of, but if the water level comes up it should be even better.

Never have been able to understand why they do not fix those damn ramps. With the amount of money GBRA charges for entry don't tell me they don't have sufficient funds. Miss fishing that lake but sure don't miss the so called ramps.
