Ok I’m doing away with trolling motor plug just gonna hard wire it what is best way to connect?
I bought some tinned 6 gauge butt splices do I solder them or just crimp or both?

Get large size shrink wrap that will slide over splice then heat shrink it.

Don’t forget you will likely still need a cutoff switch of some kind since most of the modern trolling motor circuit boards may not be happy getting higher than normal voltage during charging.

Boat has a breaker that I turn off guess that will suffice won’t it

I wouldn’t do it. They seem to have a residual draw to them. At the very least unhook one of the cables from the battery.

My boat been in the shop for over a month, Breaker turned off, Batteries still at 100 percent

As long as that breaker disconnects the trolling motor from the batteries. It will work just fine

I have a cut off switch, and I have not had any battery drain issues at all. I also heard that plugging and unplugging your trolling motor wears out the connections in the female part of the outlet.
