Ok I’m doing away with trolling motor plug just gonna hard wire it what is best way to connect? I bought some tinned 6 gauge butt splices do I solder them or just crimp or both? J D
I got all day I’m retired

Get large size shrink wrap that will slide over splice then heat shrink it.
NO FISH NO FRIEND !!!!!

Don’t forget you will likely still need a cutoff switch of some kind since most of the modern trolling motor circuit boards may not be happy getting higher than normal voltage during charging.

Boat has a breaker that I turn off guess that will suffice won’t it

I wouldn’t do it. They seem to have a residual draw to them. At the very least unhook one of the cables from the battery.

I wouldn’t do it. They seem to have a residual draw to them. At the very least unhook one of the cables from the battery. There's no residual draw if you turn off the circuit breaker when not using it.

I wouldn’t do it. They seem to have a residual draw to them. At the very least unhook one of the cables from the battery. There's no residual draw if you turn off the circuit breaker when not using it. This My boat been in the shop for over a month, Breaker turned off, Batteries still at 100 percent

I have a cut off switch, and I have not had any battery drain issues at all. I also heard that plugging and unplugging your trolling motor wears out the connections in the female part of the outlet.
