Around 50 years ago my grandfather used to make bait using beef blood that was cut in strips and saved in a large mouth gallon jug that was kept in the refrigerator. I never asked how it was made, he’s long since passed away. Is there anyone out there that knows how to make blood bait, I know beef blood is much harder to come by now than it used to be, but with deer season upon us maybe that could be used in its place? If there’s anyone out there that wouldn’t want to publicly post their recipe, feel free to PM me. I feel this is an art or a way of old that could be lost but was very effective when fishing.

I remember my dad making it. But all I got is I think it required a lot of salt. Don’t remember if it was cooked or just “cured” in oven. Man that was some nasty stuff.
